Then Sings My Soul Saturday

Participating in Amy Wyatt's (Signs, Miracles and Wonders) "Then Sings My Soul Saturdays" this week.

There is a new beautiful song out in Christian music. It's by Jonny Diaz, and called "More Beautiful You." It talks about the lies the world tells us, but the encouraging chorus says "There could never be a more beautiful you." Every young woman should hear this song and believe it! Here are the lyrics:

More Beautiful You

Little girl fourteen flipping through a magazine
Says she wants to look that way
But her hair isn’t straight her body isn’t fake
And she’s always felt overweight

Well little girl fourteen I wish that you could see
That beauty is within your heart
And you were made with such care your skin your body and your hair
Are perfect just the way they are

There could never be a more beautiful you
Don’t buy the lies disguises and hoops they make you jump through
You were made to fill a purpose that only you could do
So there could never be a more beautiful you

Little girl twenty-one the things that you’ve already done
Anything to get ahead
And you say you’ve got a man but he’s got another plan
Only wants what you will do instead

Well little girl twenty-one you never thought that this would come
You starve yourself to play the part
But I can promise you there’s a man whose love is true
And he’ll treat you like the jewel you are

So turn around you’re not too far
To back away be who you are
To change your path go another way
It’s not too late you can be saved
If you feel depressed with past regrets
The shameful nights hope to forget
Can disappear they can all be washed away
By the one who’s strong can right your wrongs
Can rid your fears dry all your tears
And change the way you look at this big world
He will take your dark distorted view
And with His light He will show you truth
And again you’ll see through the eyes of a little girl

I couldn't find a youtube or tangle video of it, since it's such a new song, but if you'd like to hear it, click over to his myspace, and the song will start up automatically, by clicking here.

Simple Woman's Daybook

Today I am joining the Simple Woman's Daybook, which is a fill in the blank meme hosted by Peggy at The Simply Woman.

FOR TODAY - March 20, 2009

Outside my window... Daffodils are blooming - the first day of Spring!

I am thinking... I can't wait for 75 degree days!

I am thankful for... God in my life, my family, friends, health.

From the kitchen... Finished my co-op cooking yesterday, 8 lbs of pork chops, 4 lbs of green peas, 6 lbs of potato casserole. No more cooking until next week! :-)

I am wearing... jeans, long sleeved t-shirt, socks

I am creating... a devotional book. One day I'll submit it to a publisher. :-)

I am going... to Bible study this morning, "40 Days of Love" by Rick Warren.

I am reading... the Bible, I'm up to Numbers now.

I am hoping... to read the entire Bible this year.

I am hearing... the sweet sound of silence.

Around the house... the laundry is caught up, but I have some dishes to do from co-op cooking.

One of my favorite things... coffee, with friends! Had a sweet outing with Sonya last night, we got to meet for coffee and chatting. It was wonderful.

A few plans for the rest of the week: Out to breakfast Saturday morning, a cook-out to attend Saturday night, Church Sunday & swim team practice for my oldest daughter.

Here is picture thought I am sharing.. my kindergarten school picture. Don't I look happy?

Have a great weekend!

Thankful Thursday 3/19

I'm feeling very Suessical today. So starting with "Thing 1" & "Thing 2" all the way down to Thankful Thing 5, I couldn't help but rhyme a bit. Just go with it. :-)

1. For my vehicle which carries my family to & fro, every where we need to go!

2. For my chiropractor who cracks my back, when I'm feeling out of whack.

3. For my God who loves me always true, no matter if I fail or do.

4. For food and home, where I stay warm, and am kept away from harm.

5. For everything, I thank my King, Jesus Christ is a-maz-ing!

What are you thankful for this week? Leave me a comment or link up over at Truth 4 the Journey by clicking the link below.

It's Not What You Know....

It's not WHAT you know, it's WHO you know." This quote refers to the "good old boy network." In other words, when looking for a job, it didn't matter how qualified for the job you were, it was instead who you knew in the organization that could get you in the door.

I know a lot of stuff. I do some good. I work hard. I try to be nice. But I can tell you, what I know won't get me into Heaven. If I can quote the Bible from memory from Genesis to Revelation, that isn't going to get me there. If I take the gospel to every third world country, that won't get me there. If I give all my money to the poor, that won't get me to Heaven.

No, truly this is a case of not what you know, but WHO you know. I know Jesus. Because I know, love, and have accepted Jesus as my Savior, I accepted into Heaven. It doesn't matter if I'm the dumbest punk on the block, or the smartest gal on earth. None of that gets me to Heaven. Just knowing Jesus.

"Knowing you, Jesus, knowing you. There is no greater thing. You're my all, you're the best. You're my joy and righteousness, and I love you Lord." (Graham Kendrick, song below)

I've got friends in high places. So who do know you at the top?

1 Corinthians 13:2 -- If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.

John 17:3 -- Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.

1 John 5:20 -- We know also that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true. And we are in him who is true—even in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.

Run Back to Jesus

I saw a bumper sticker the other day that made me laugh out loud. It said "Try Jesus! If you don't like him, the devil will always take you back." While that bumper sticker is funny, the truth isn't! The devil isn't just waiting to "take" us back, the devil is working all the time to try and get us! He wants nothing more than to steal us away from Jesus and harm us emotionally and physically, and rob us of our eternal life.

Then there is Jesus. He too is trying to get us back when we stray. The video below is a wonderful depiction of this.

For the first minute and 30 seconds, the girl experiences life with Jesus and all that he has to offer. But then sin steps in. First comes, lust, then greed, drunkenness and vanity. Finally depression steps in. Each separates her farther from Jesus. But he continues to intercede on her behalf the entire time. Finally, she runs to him. It isn't easy. She must fight against these sins. Finally, finally, Jesus steps in to separate her from her sin.

I encourage you to watch this video today. If you haven't seen it before, the intensity of it may very well bring tears to your eyes.

Don't let the devil separate you from God. Run as hard and fast as you can toward Jesus. He is there waiting for you, interceding for you, pulling for you, and ready to step in and save you from your sins. Don't wait. Run!

Isaiah 59:1, 2 -- Surely the arm of the LORD is not too short to save, nor his ear too dull to hear. But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you.

Romans 8:35,38-39 -- Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Zephaniah 3:17 -- The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save.
