God is Always There

Have you ever lost your glasses, only to find them on the top of your head? How about getting ready to exit the car, and can't find your cell phone...because you're talking on it? Maybe you've been searching the counter frantically for your keys, only to have someone point them out and say, "If it had been a snake, it would have bitten you."  The items were never lost. They were always there, you just didn't see them.

So it is with God.  He is always there, even when we feel alone, lonely or abandoned. Sometimes we just don't see Him.

My most recent publication released yesterday. Always There, Reflections for Moms on God's Presence is a devotional published in conjunction with  MOPS International, and includes best selling authors Ann Voskamp, Renee Swoop, and Kathi Lipp; as well as my friends, Shannon Milholland, Michele Cushatt, and Sue Jeantheau.  I'm honored to be included with these ladies.

When Do You Celebrate Easter?

If you are like me, you celebrated Easter this past Sunday (April 8). But did you know Eastern Orthodox Christians (the 2nd largest Christian denomination in the world) celebrate Easter next Sunday, April 15? I was surprised to learn this, and though their faith is similar to Western Christians, they have a different calendar. They use the Julian, while we use the Gregorian calendar.

When is the right day to celebrate Easter?  Easter is the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ the third day after his Crucifixion. It is the day we celebrate our risen Lord. Jesus died on the cross to pay the price for our sins. But that is just the beginning of the story. As he promised, on the third day he rose from the dead, and his resurrection is still celebrated today by Christians over 2,000 years later on what we refer to as Easter.

Jesus literally separated time, from BC to AD. He is the one and only son of God, the living God, who reigns forever. Because of Jesus' resurrection, believers have eternal life! We can live with God forever!

So which day is the right day to celebrate our Risen Lord?  Every day. Let us remember his love, his sacrifice and his resurrection every day. Amen.
