The Real Housewives of....

Okay, full disclosure, I've never actually seen any of the Real Housewives television shows that appear on the Bravo Network. I have, however, seen ads and comments enough to know a little about these ladies. One allegedly has money issues, has been evicted from her home and looted it in response. Another allegedly keeps company of a married man called "Big Poppa." On the season finale, one housewife cursed out another and flipped a table...with children in the room.

Well, the photo above is of the real housewives that I know. We are the real housewives of our community.

We too may have experienced money problems from our husband's lost jobs or pay cuts and a suffering economy. But we pray for one another, and believe that God will provide for our needs.

We may not have perfect marriages. But what we do have is a belief of a covenant between our self, our spouse and God. We strive to make our marriages work, even when times are tough.

Sometimes we even hurt one anothers feelings. We're may mis-speak or take things the wrong way and get our feelings hurt. But we work to resolve those issues amicably. We know we are forgiven, so we forgive...even when its hard.

We real housewives may not have a television show about our lives, but we have eternal life. We're not that different from the other "real housewives" in that we have issues in our life. But how we are different is that we have Jesus in our life. And that one difference makes a huge difference. We are the real housewives of our community. We serve a real God. Bravo!

Like the songs says, "It's got to be real!" I never watch the housewives show either. I like how you gather, encourage, and pray for each other. That's a beautiful picture to model.

I liked this!
Real reality.

(not even one table was thrown?)

Thank you for this. The media is adept at skewing our perception of what's real and valuable. Thank God we have a choice to live apart from that... in the world but not of the world!

I think we probably have way more fun than those plastic TV people. They only pretend to sit there and drink coffee and enjoy each other's company. We had quite a few great laughs that morning, because when you relate to one another on a genuine level, you share what's inside, which is what really matters. Plastic TV people are...empty, aren't they?

And thanks to the hostess with the mostest for a lovely morning out!

I've heard references to those other ones but have a problem with the "real" part!
Around here, our housewives are real like your's are real. And isn't it awesome!!

Thank you, Kelly, for keeping it real. What a nice-looking bunch of friends you've got! The thing is, the people on those TV shows only recite lines. We're out here LIVING the TRUTH.

Well done, my friend. You are a true inspiration.

First Confession: I have never even heard of that housewives show.

Second Confession: I am jealous of you and your housewives group.

OK. I am part of a small group from at my church, and I love the friends I have in that group. But getting together with other housewives to pray for and lift one another up sounds soooooo good. What a blessing for you!

Kelly,

I too, am not a Housewives fan, nor would I be. It is not the true representative of what real housewives are, or at least the ones I am thinking of.

These are the women who pray for their families, pray for their communities and for their world. They are the ones who are on their knees daily and have an intimate and personal relationship with God.

You are much more refreshing than the "reality" housewives. I don't see one tuft of hair in any one of these women's hands. That is most refreshing.

Love the picture and the truth about who we really are! And it's amazing what the actresses lives are supposedly like in real life. I wouldn't trade mine for anything!
Love you, Laurie

KC,
The motorcycle ministry BFC was approached to do a "REALITY SHOW" about 3 years ago. What a great way to share the faith. TV crews following a bunch of Christian bikers around America. Then the producer said they wanted to film us during in-fighting and competition with other bike clubs. Those are things we don't do. So we kindly pointed toward the door TV doesn't want reality. They want drama. Even where it doesn't exist.
Keep on keeping it real. Be careful. Méfiez-vous recueillir tant de beauté en un seul endroit mai à éblouir le soleil.

Seriously though. You are truly blessed to have a network of friends who pray for you and support you. It's so important.

Yes, yes, yes. I loved reading how you ended this post. Standing in His truth. Real housewives make a real difference both in the family and in the community.

Okay, full disclosure. I have watched an episode...or two...of the Real Housewives. It really is absurd.

You girls are keeping it real and doing it with grace and beauty. Keep on keeping on! What a lovely group.

Well, I'd much rather watch a show about all of you than that other smut! What an inspiration it would be to see people surviving a tough economy and troubled marriages pieced back together and friends actually saying, "I'm sorry" instead of backstabbing. Honestly, I think the viewing audience would be huge for such a show.
