Lucky 13

Today is my 13th wedding anniversary. Now supposedly 7 is a lucky number, and 13 is unlucky. But in marriage since 7 is supposedly unlucky (7 year itch), than 13 must be lucky right??

So in honor of my lucky 13th, here are 13 Things I've Learned in 13 Years:

1. My husband is not perfect. And neither am I.

2. I can't change him, and I'm basically okay with that.

3. It's not all about me, no matter what "it" is.

4. How to cook, and I'm pretty good at it!

5. What ELSE I want to be when I grow up (besides a wife & mother...a writer!)

6. Believing in God in not enough, I want to live my life for him.

7. Minivans are cool. (Humor me on this one.)

8. I won't be a size 2 forever, and that just means there is more of me to love. (*wink*)

9. I finally concur with the Bible's take on submission...I didn't say I was good at it, I just said I agree with it.

10. Gifts aren't important! I'm happy with just a card and spending time together. (Really, honey, I'm not kidding!)

11. It takes work to make a marriage last or to be a good mom, and I'm up for the task.

12. I'm not always right (but I still want to be).

13. I still have a lot to learn...and always will.

Colossians 3:13-15 -- Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.

I'm wondering at what place in those 13 years it was that you discovered your husband "is not perfect"??

If it was in the last couple of years...then I will say to him- "You're Goooood, man"

Yeah, that submission thingy is tricky for you women, ain't it? ;D

Happy Anniversary!!

Thirteen--just another number in the number line--not lucky or unlucky!!

Congratulations, and I'm glad you found 13 items that are true and good about your relationship! Some are still searching for one good thing!

Happy Anniversary Kelly! May the next year be a blessed one for you and your family! Every year that you have someone who loves you and to share your life with you is a lucky year!

I used to always tease my husband about getting me that 10 year diamond anniversary ring that was always advertised on TV. The day before our 10th anniversary my husband lost his job! I jokingly told him, "Well, I guess I'm not getting that ring this year!"

We celebrated anniversary #19 this year, and I still haven't seen that ring. Like you said though, a gift isn't what's important, just spending time together is enough. Enjoy!

Happy Anniversary! When I hear you say "I don't need gifts", that tells me your husband likes to give them. On our first anniversary, my husband got me a pair of socks. For real. Poor guy has never lived it down. But i knew then I had to teach him about gift giving! Socks???!!! (He said, "What? You NEED socks.")

Your list makes me smile! We are all growing hopefully spiritually more than physically. It's Spring's Anniversary also. May God continue to watch over you both and fill your house with love for Him and each other. Happy celebrating! B

Happy Anniversary! I have a friend who says thirteen is a lucky number. He is a twin born on Friday the 13th. I think it was lucky for him, he is a great guy.

A very happy belated anniversary to you two. Loved this post! I don't ever remember being a size two though. LOL.

Aw I missed your Anniversary. I hope it was the best!

I love your list. Yes minivans are cool. When I knew it was time for me to give up the pickup truck and get something more appropriate for lugging around the girls, I prayed for a minivan. God gave me a SUV. LOL. I still think minivans are cool though. :)

My dad's birthday was May 13th. He said he was born on Friday the 13th so it was a *good luck* day. The thing is my grandma used to say he was born on Mother's Day. LOL.
