You know that song from American Idol a few years back, when they'd vote someone off they'd play "you had a bad day." I can hear that song playing in my head right now. I'm tired from an overly busy week and don't have the energy to pull together a riveting post.
This is especially troubling now that Michael Hyatt (CEO of Thomas Nelson Publishing) is following me on Twitter and could pop over any second to see what I wrote. And he'd find this. Oh, the agony. {Mr. Hyatt, please come back on Monday, I'll write something amazing...or I could just fax over my book proposal now...it's ready!!}.
In any event, I found this meme at "Under Grace & Over Coffee." Her tag line is "I take my coffee with milk, sugar, and the joy of knowing Jesus." Well I could have said that! So I thought, since I'm feeling random, I'd link up. Here are some random things this week:
1. Too many school programs, play dates & picnics have left me exhausted, and tomorrow is the last day of school for my preschooler. I need another week, really. Can't she go one more week?
2. The pool opens this weekend! My kids are thrilled. I am facing the reality of wearing a swim suit in public. I'm not ready for this. Where is my self-tanner?
3. I loved the American Idol finale! I knew Kris would win, because all the Danny people threw their votes to Kris. It was a great show.
4. I haven't been reading my Bible. This is leading to writer's block, not to mention getting farther behind in my goal to read it in a year. I need to skip ahead...Leviticus & Numbers are so overwhelming. I love the New Testament, and I am bogged down in the Old Testament details (how many in each tribe, what sacrifices they made).
5. My in-laws aren't doing too well physically, and this is leaving me really bummed too. I love my in-laws SO much, they are awesome. You can read about them here. But if you get a chance, say a prayer for them.
Okay, so that is my completely random post today. It's not my usually upbeat fun. But every one has a bad day now & then.

The end of the school year is always so full of fun activities, programs, etc and it can be a little overwhelming and then add that on to what is just "going on" in our lives. I agree with Sue, perhaps a quiet sit on your deck is just what you need!
Prayer for you Mr chatty Kelly and your inlaws. I'm thankful for the chat we had the other day to help me know best how to focus my prayers for each of you.
Boy, I could have written exactly what you wrote! Except, no your dear daughter can't have one more week of preschool...the teachers are tired:-) (I'm trying to wake up as I type this...oh, I haven't had my coffee yet...that might help!)
I thought of you last night because one of my students gave me a gift card to Starbucks! Along with it came a coffee mug and 2 pairs of the cutest coffee themed socks!

You're lucky school's out for you! I homeschool mine and we'll be doing school through the summer in order to catch up on our ridiculously looong Christmas break... sigh.

I love self-tanner - especially since it takes me a good two months to actually get a real tan, and that's all we get for summer here!

PS - Levit. and Numbers were tough, but treasures along the way. NIV Chrono Bible is currently in Song of Solomon, which is so nice...especially during me and hub's anniversary time! :) Why don't you start again to and just keep going. Hang on until the New Testament! God will bless you through the OT!
I've read the Bible from front to end several times. One year I read it twice within 10 months besides twenty other books/commentaries. The key is meditating on what you've hid in your heart. Make like a cow, and Regurgitate it. And, God is going to bless you, regardless.

I find you to be down-to-earth (too heavenly minded makes one no earthly good), unpretentious, and Real.

...well apparently, I'm in the minority on this Blogosphere when it comes to the 70's Classic Rock songs. That's ok...I'm willing to expose the best music ever made to the latest generations.
No, I'm not "teasing" you. I'm as real as it gets and God has gifted me in certain areas, just like he has for everyone. I can see through the 'weak in the faith' very easily. And there are some that fit that category with their pretentious religious blogs. It's rather easy to learn of someone through their blogs. No matter how much one may try to wear the religious cloak...a blog will eventually make one transparent. And, I'll never mention any names.
Anyone can talk the religious jargon and go through the motions of religion...and anyone does. God will deliver anyone from religious bondage that is willing to humble their self.
What I said of you is true, and I have nothing to gain from my assessment. I actually have a genuine motive in the midst of all my bullsh*****g. Roms 14:1-3, 15:7
I love the NT, too, but there are some important things in the OT. Everything relates in scripture. One of the neat things I learned from reading the OT is that the law required that when they harvested their fields, they were to leave some grain behind for the poor and widows to glean. Because of that law, Ruth happened to glean in Boaz's field, and the rest of the story is that they got married, had children, becoming a direct line to the throne of David...and Jesus. I love the way everything connects.
I know some OT things can be hard to wade through, but there's some good stuff there. Keep plugging away.
I have always enjoyed posts with lists of "random thoughts". I suppose it seems so familiar to me. What's good for your brain is good for ours too. Have a wonderful weekend. And I will pray for your in-laws. (in-loves)

Don't give up, CK! I understand the getting bogged down. Oh, I understand! But God can still meet you there. Let Him use the details to remind you how much HE IS IN THE DETAILS. He is in every detail of your life and you can trust Him.

I agree about the end of the school year. Some would say it is bittersweet....or at least bitter. it's just so much easier to be a good parent when you have those hours away from the kids to regroup... not to mention get a pedicure (well, at least in your case...me a pedicure...EEKKK!)
Also am going through the craziness of events. Choir concerts, Baccalaureate(yes I looked up the spelling), prom, exams, early release days, graduation picnics, practices and the graduation itself.
