Editiorial Opinion: Brit Hume

This isn't a devotional, but I just heard something I thought I'd share with you all. On Sunday morning on national TV, correspondent Brit Hume was asked his opinion on the Tiger Woods scandal. Mr. Hume suggested that if Tiger wanted true forgiveness and redemption that he should turn to the Christian faith.

I'm excited to see that little piece of the gospel go out into the world on national TV. Not surprisingly, Mr. Hume's remarks are being criticized as intolerant and he is getting a lot of flack for the comments.

I personally applaud him for speaking out in faith! As Christians we no longer have an open forum. The U.S. is heading toward religious persecution quickly. Are you willing to stand for Jesus, like Mr. Hume?

Matthew 5:11, 12 -- "Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

It's nice to see people willing to say what they really think in a positive aspect.

I saw that also and thought the exact same thing.
If Tiger Woods were a Christian and asked for forgiveness....and meant it, he could be sure that the forgiveness he received from God would be a LOT quicker than the forgiveness he receives here on Earth

Go to youtube to see more of Brit Hume's commentary on Christianity and Jesus Christ on Bill O'Reilly last night. It was great.
Love you, Kelly, 'hope to meet you in person some day.

I heard this, too. Honestly, I was shocked to hear it on National T.V.
I praise GOD for speaking through and unlikely means to millions! I pray there were others who recognized through this statement their own need for a relationship with our precious Heavenly Father.

Hugs and prayers, andrea

Kelly,

I just wrote about this very thing on my blog yesterday. We truly do need to speak respectfully and give an answer for the reason why we have the faith in God that we do.

Wow. Go Brit!!!

It's so easy to laugh at the jokes going around about Tiger these days. Oh, that encouragment for him to turn to Jesus would be as prevalent!

Rock on, Brit!

I love Fox News. I just do. Not because (for the most part) they have the same views I do, but because they are willing to SAY it.

I love how Hannity closes every show with the words of Jesus, "Let not your heart be troubled."

Have a great day, Kelly!

Wow that was a gutsy remark to make. I think it was an excellent comment too. It is getting increasingly difficult to talk about religion but I am happy to say that a lot of people I know are speaking out.

WOW! Thank you for sharing this Kelly! He was BOLD! I am hearing the song "Stand up, Stand up for Jesus" in my mind. I pray Tiger opens his heart to Jesus. B

Good for him. And why is it that you can promote any religion except Christianity, but Christians are considered intolerant?!

The ones who are saying he is intolerant are actually being intolerant by their words of disdain!

My son and I had watched this video yesterday Kelly. All I can say is, "Go God!"

I never knew Britt Hume was a believer, but I'm glad he is, and am thrilled that he stood up for truth. I just hope that Tiger Woods hears it.

You go girl! I was just told to keep politics out of Facebook. I am a little irked. Mind you, I have been told to keep religion out of FB too.

Hi Kelly,
Happy New Year!

I read about this and watched the video yesterday. I was surprised to hear Brit Hume go on like he did. I applaud him for standing up for his faith. I know, as a Christian, I should be jumping up and down with everyone else cheering him on, but something causes me to pause.

I think Brit's remarks and approach are a great topic for conversation among both believers and non-believers.

I applaud you for posting this Kelly! You are thinking the tough stuff these days and seeing with your eyes wide open. It's sad how many Christians still don't see where we are headed or choose not to believe it.

What is really sad is how surprised we all are at this too. There was a time when this was the norm. What does that say about how far we have slipped?
