Remember when Vampires were associated with evil? The old movies and scary stories of vampires included ways to avoid them (garlic) and to kill them (stake in the heart or a silver bullet). But suddenly the world has lost sight of the evil of vampires.
Vampires now are sexy and exciting. Twilight, Vampire Diaries, and other vampire shows, movies and books have made the evil alluring. At the end of the movie, the main character in Twilight asks the vampire to bite her so she can be like him.
I think that is exactly how the Devil operates. He doesn't come down in a scary swoop threatening to drink your blood and kill you. No, he fools you into believing the evil is exciting and alluring. Soon you want the evil thing, no longer believing it be evil.
I think our young people are the most susceptible to this change in perception. The world is taking what is evil and making it normal or desirable. And I find that scarier than vampires.
But there is another thing that makes Vampires go away. Do you remember? It's the cross. When you hold up the cross, the vampire shrinks away in fear. So does the devil. The cross is the power of God. Mighty is the power of the cross.
1 Corinthians 1:18 -- For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
Galatians 6:14 -- May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.

You are so right!
The Devil doesn't have a tail, red cape or horns.

Amen. Period. :O)
I hate that so many teens are being sucked into the occult. No pun intended.
Yes!! Amen!!
It is scary... And what is even scarier, it not just the teens getting sucked in, it is the adults too.
Your post is right on the money!
I love the title of your blog! So similar to mine. I look forward to following you.
Amen Kelly! The bible says "Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light." 2 Corinthians 11:14
Great Post Kelly! Really! :)
John 8:44 says "You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and has nothing to do with the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies." We have seen the lies slowly integrated into everything about our society. They have become an everyday part of our lives.
Our young so often do not have the foundation to know the truth from the lie. It is sad and heart breaking.
Great post.
Blessings

I've been thinking on this very thing of late. Satan is so tricky and subtle. Parents have the hardest job these days. So much pressure and deceipt lurking in every corner for our teens and college students, especially- campuses reek with the stench of Satan's schemes. We are talking a lot about that over here.
I really like Chris Tomlin- just bought his newest cd. Great video clip.
Amen and Amen! I can't even emphasis it enough. I'm going to share your link.
Love you girl. Keep sharing the TRUTH!
I have been growing increasingly disturbed at the glamorization of this evil force! In fact, I watched the first movie a number of months back with a group of women. There is a very strange draw to those movies...I was caught up in it myself. I backed off in a hurry! If our young people grow up with this glamorization of evil, how are they ever going to know evil?
The allure is in the obvious results, with no apparent consequences. One little bite and you never suffer pain, sickness or age, for millennium. The current mythology of vampires, leaves out all the negative connotations. No friendship. even among the vampires, as they are your direct competition. No warmth. No sunshine. No love. No compassion, given or received. Confined to the fringes of society, forever. Hunted and hated. Plus when the real end comes, the soul is already gone. and now they are dust.
But no, the new stories all portray vampiric life like an eternal halloween gothic party.
Even today's nursery stories are different. When I was a kid, the story of the ANTS and the Grasshopper ended with the lazy grasshopper dying in winter. Today's version, all the ants band together and feed the lazy bum.
Guess what Word Girl was for halloween? :(
What a great post for the day before Halloween. And you are so right. Quite often evil shows up on our doorstep as sexy, cool and exciting. Also, its grip gets stronger each time you let it in.
Very accurate. Thanks for the reminder... the enemy will never cease laying traps until that glorious day when Christ returns.
Interesting post Kelly. I agree that by making things part of our everyday life they become less evil. Our young people are lead to believe that we should accept things that are unacceptable. In my opinion that is.
Great post, and so true of how the devil operates. A young man said to me recently that he no longer saw black and white, only shades of gray. The enemy had been busy convincing him that any behavior was acceptable.
Ah, so thankful for the ones seeing. Thanks for posting this, I am glad Edie linked here.
I have several stories of how the enemy is using this in bringing division in the Body of Christ, and a story of a 9th grade girl who seriously believes she is a werewolf. Seriously.
Thanks for posting the heart of God.
