Showering His Love

With Vacation Bible School being at night this week, I've had a hard time fitting in bath time for my 5 year old, Cici. Finally, I decided to give her a quick shower. To say she enjoyed it would be an understatement.

"It feels so good!" she exclaimed. She ooh'ed and ahh'ed about how warm the water was, and how great it felt, then she said something that dropped me to my knees.

"It feels like God's hands."

I didn't know what to say to that. I believe that children are more in tune with God's presence than adults. Cici is the child who once told me that Jesus came into her bedroom and stayed the whole night so she wouldn't be scared of the dark. I asked her how the water felt like God's hands. She said "It's strong." When I asked what she meant by strong, she said "powerful."

As I washed her, I thought about how God sent Jesus to wash away our sins. I thought about water baptism, and receiving the Holy Spirit. I thought about God presence. God's hands.

May this intuitive little girl always feel God's hands on her, showering down His love. May we all be so blessed.

Psalm 72:6 -- He will be like rain falling on a mown field, like showers watering the earth.

Isaiah 45:8 -- "You heavens above, rain down righteousness; let the clouds shower it down. Let the earth open wide, let salvation spring up, let righteousness grow with it; I, the LORD, have created it.

Exodus 15:18 -- The LORD will reign for ever and ever.

Wow...I love this. I can see how this dropped you to your knees! out of the mouths of babes.

I remember when we transitioned from baths to showers. Now they get to choose. Growing up!

CiCi's in tune with the Lord. How beautiful that moment must have been to her and you. God often speaks and gives me ideas in the shower. There must be something more to that. I heard a pastor say last week that God spoke to him in the shower. Maybe we all need to clean up...B

You know I have always felt that God visited me when I was younger. I often felt like he was talking to me and sometimes I had a feelling of warmth when everything else was crashing down around me. I think that some children simply open their hearts and God will come to them. Your daughter must be one of them.

What a sweet moment with your daughter!
I don't know what it is about the shower, but God and I often meet there. Sometimes I imagine Him literally washing away my tears. Sometimes I enjoy the moments of being totally alone and am simply able to think better. Other times it's the peace and serenity of the falling water that comforts me in His presence.
Yes, showers are a good thing!

Out of the mouths of babes, right?!! Two things that have grounded me in God are that my dying brother told my mom she would have another baby, which was me; and that my oldest son once told me that Jesus told him I would have another baby. Even though I miscarried that baby, I still believe this was the baby that Sam told me about. The simple faith of children....I wish I could always have that!

Hugs and Blessings, Leslie

What a wonderful thing! I posted on my kids being close to God today and Greg pointed me to your post because it was a similar topic. I think God is trying to remind us all about how close children are to him! All I can say is WOW!
